WHAT IS LAT PULLDOWN?
The Lat pulldown is a strength training exercise designed to develop back muscles. It is a movement that accelerates the muscle development of the upper body. Along with the adduction and extension of the shoulder joint, it performs the functions of downward rotation and depression of the scapula.
HOW TO DO LAT PULLDOWN?
1. Choose an appropriate weight. Grasp the bar and sit on the bench, with your hands slightly wider than shoulder-width apart and palms facing forward.
2. You should pay attention to this while pulling. The upper body should remain as perpendicular to the floor as possible. In other words, do not gain acceleration to facilitate pulling by tilting and lifting the upper body during pulling and dropping. You must do the pull by using only your wing muscles.
3. The upper body should start pulling perpendicular to the ground and at the moment of pulling, a slight flexion should be given to the waist and the chest should be pushed forward. The bar should be pulled exactly on the upper chest. We do this for a more comfortable pulling and to increase the range of motion of the lat muscles (muscle extension distance - muscle working distance). In this way, they will stretch more and develop more.
4. As you exhale, grasp the bar with both hands and slowly pull until the bar is a few inches from the top of your chest.
5. When you reach the end point, hold for a second and while breathing, swing the bar upwards at a medium-slow speed.
6. Do as many repetitions as you can and complete the set.
NOTE: There are two important points in this movement; the one is to do the movement correctly, the other is to use the appropriate weight. Take care to do both in the right way.
